Elements of Style Cards

Happy Memorial Day to everyone! My share today are cards I made in my last demo. The guests who visited me that day were in awe to see the NEW 2010-2011 Idea Book Catalogue as well as the new stamp set, Elements of Style. Thank you, Raidis for lending me this set at the last minute. This stamp set is so getting into my next list to order. NOTICE the price change from the Summer Mini Catalogue against the new 2010-2011 Idea Book Catalogue. Hurry and get them now!

I used the shadowing effect where I stamped the image twice. In these cards, I used Basic Gray and Sahara Sand Ink pads and they really worked well together.

The Square Lattice Textured Impression Folder is such a treat to use! It turns any cardstock into a totally different paper. It looked and felt like leather to me..hihi. Doesn't it?

I also used the blender pens to color in my Baha Breeze Ink onto the flowers. I'm sooo glad that color is coming back! Anyway, I hope you're having a wonderful Memorial day weekend.

My Special prayer to all those who have fallen and served our country. Special mention to Army Spc. Justin R. Blackwell, 27, of Paris, Tennessee. Assigned to the 59th Military Police Company, 759th Military Police Battalion, 89th Police Brigade, Fort Carson, Colo.; died in August 5th 2007. Cake Slice with Faux Icing

Happy Friday! I'm so excited today because I'm getting ready for my event tomorrow. Again, I'll be doing a demo in Hallmark Celebration store in Laguna Niguel and will be previewing the NEW SU! 2010-2011 Idea Book Catalogue. This catalogue won't be available until July 1st, therefore, come see me and take a peek!

My cake slice today was an order for a birthday celebrant. The celebrant's birthstone was Emerald so I made something on the green side. I though it would be a tough one but it still turned out well.

Here, I made my Tissue Paper flower which looked like whipped icing to me (there's 3 of them on the slice). This time, I added the label on top of the cake and it came out so pretty. To learn how to make those flowers, click HERE.

The top of the cake was also embossed with my Textured Impression Folder - Petals-A-Plenty. For those who have my tutorial, please feel free to share and email me with your version of cake. I'm doing a collection and posting them here. You can never go wrong with these slices, anything you will make will look gorgeous!

Cake Slice Boxes - Wedding and Anniversary

Another day of fun and creations! I finally got an order for a 30th Anniversary. I think the tradition is to celebrate it with Pearls and Diamonds. It was not really hard to come up with something for wedding because SU has all the tools for the occassion. From embossing to the embellishments, to the paper and the stamps! How easy is that!

This is my first Wedding Slice. I love using the hues of white and vanilla! I used the Shimmery White cardstock #101910 for the cake body and Whisper white for the top and doily. Of course, the flowers should be in Very Vanilla to apply contrast! The flowers here are also spritz with the new Smooch Spritz - Vanilla Shimmer #118772. Always perfect! I used the Elegant Bouquet Textured Impression Folder #115964 on this piece. Then decorated it sparingly with rhinestone. (featured is not SU). But used the Pretties Kit #109114 for the pearl embellishment. I added also my favorite White Organza Ribbon #114319. The ribbon looked like the train on a wedding dress as well as it did here in this cake slice.

I was asked to make a male version of the slice so all I could think of are darker shades of beige. I went with Creamy Caramel #102514(retiring)for the body. I will miss this color very much! I used the same Very Vanilla on the flower to create unison. And embellished with the 5/8"-Chocolate Chip Brown Satin Ribbon #117287. The Textured Embossing Folder I used here is the Manhattan Flower #114517 and the Perfect Polka Dots #117335.

Winner of Shelli Gardner’s SoShelli Creative Challenge contest—Fun with Folds!

Great News!!! I just got my first winning creative challenge contest from Shelli Gardner. If you're outside the family of Stampin Up, she's our Mother of All in Stampin up, the Co-founder and CEO of Stampin Up!. You should check out her blog HERE.

This morning, I got an email from her office stating that I was chosen as the winner of the April Creative Challenge Contest - Fun with Folds! I couldn't believe it at first because I never won anything here..hihi. I'm just one of the many who would like to be one of the chosens but never really got noticed..hihi. That's ok. I'm just here for the challenge and for the fun of it :)

My cake, thanks to all of you out there who had patronized my cake project, was the perfect entry for this challenge! And I said, why not! Nothing to loose but everything to gain :)

The cake featured here is another take that was ordered from me by someone celebrating a reunion. She asked if she could only have 9 for her friends, so I did! It still looked great! I used Whisper White on the flower and sprayed the Vanilla Shimmer- Smooch Spritz #118772. Boy, it looked like a confectionary. It was like pearlized shimmer on a flower candy. So LOVELY!!!

I hope you can see it in this picture. I also embossed the doily with the Textured Impression Folder - Perfect Polka Dots #117335. Not sure if you can see in the picture but it gave that classy look. I also added on the scallop, a pearlized white decorative fabric paint that hardens when it dries. It looked like candied pearls on a cake..teehee. yumm... anyway, I hope you like it too!

Scrapbook Pages from the Past - My Sweetie

It's Scrapbook month, I just thought about digging into my archives and find something inspirational. Before I joined the SU family, I was into heavy scrapbooking and was in the zone of making cute pages as a Tear Bear enthusiast. The passion just grew and found it's way to selling them. However, when I stumbled upon the idea of being a SU demonstrator, my scrapbooking days just came to a halt.

I really don't know if this is good or bad but I surely don't regret being where I am now. Loving Stampin Up! So here are some shares of what I've done in the past. I hope you enjoy browsing as much as I made them.

Page one of my Sweets Page. Pictures of your love ones having ice cream or desserts may be added onto these pages. My Tear Bears were handmade from scratch. On this page, they expressed the passion of baking.

Page two of my Sweets Page. On this page, my bear shows off her desserts.

Here's a close up of my faux dessert made from scratch. They were not store bought but were created with different techniques I've discovered in the process. I will be using this process soon in making my cards and 3D projects :)

Cake Collection #3 - Jan's Cake

Another WOW CAKE! This work of art was made by Jan Douglas. She's another creative artist who showed a great cake for a Male celebrant!!! The colors she used were just perfect. I think she used "Soft Suede" cardstock on her cake.
The flower she created with the ornament punch didn't even compromise the masculinity of the cake! The idea to put stamens on the flower was just brilliant!

Jan has no blog so I can explain how she described the stamens in the flower. She mentioned that she bought white stamens in the Wedding section of a craft store. Then colored them with some alcohol ink (butterscotch, she thinks) and glued the stamens inside the flower with some of it sticking out of the flower (as shown in the pictures). Thanks, Jan, for sharing this wonderful creation!!! You did a great job! WELL DONE!!!

You can find my ornament punch tutorial HERE. Just use appoximately 8-10 ornament punch pieces to get the flower effect of the flower shown on the cake.

Buttercup Flower Sneak Peek

Here we go again! Another paper flower to learn and enjoy! These are soooooo easy to make and I'm soooo glad it came out so pretty. I always have my mom judge my paper flowers since she deals with the real thing. It's like second nature to her to just know what looks good in the garden or not. She gave me her thumbs up on this and here it is!!!

With my ongoing cake slice box projects, these make a new addition to the list of things to put on top of your cake.

Tutorials to this Buttercup Flower will be available in a few days. So check back in again this weekend!

Cake Collection Part 2

Another cake from KT!!! She out did herself again! She's soooo creative I can't help but do a dance :) This time she used the scallop circle punch on her flowers and used DSP instead of the cardstock. I love how the lines represent in this cake. Looks like a layers of icing and cake. YUM!!! Her candle just seals the project! Thanks again for sharing your cake slice take, KT! Visit her at KT Hom Designs

Cake and Ice Cream Workshop

Last weekend, I held a sweet workshop, hosted by Ivy and we had sooo much fun. First we made the Ice Cream Cone celebration card which involved so many techniques. In one card, we did the kissing technique with the "Sweet Scoops" stamp set #120078-clear. We did spritzing with the vanilla shimmer smooch sprtiz #118772. We tried the new Textured Impression Embossing Folder- Square Lattice #119976. WOW!!! A fun packed card!!! BTW, we added some dazzling diamond glitter onto the ice cream to put some frost effect on it. We were glad we did that!

Excuse my photo, my camera was acting up that day. It didn't do justice to our projects.

Here's Ivy and Jackie and our make and takes:

Mom's Card and Gift

Early morning on Sunday, I still didn't have my Mother's Day Card. Would you believe that? With so many Mother's Day cards I've made since the last month, I was not yet decided on "THE" Mother's day card for my mom. So, on the morning of, I just went with my instincts and came out with my color scheme. My mom loves the shades of aqua so I used the Bermuda Bay (retiring color). I will be sad to let it go. Continuing on to another color that signifies Mother's day, PINK! Doesn't it go for Mother's day? Anyway, it blended in. I made one of my roses then worked from there. Used my favorite "Lovely Letters Alphabet" to spell M.O.M. and added on some Sweet Pea Stitch Felt embellishments.

I had a nice gift that came along with the card and thought of making a box or a cover for it instead of getting a gift bag. It came out great. Just wrapped cardstock onto my gift in the shape of the gift I gave. Can you guess what it was?
Anyway, I added the Whisper White Eyelet border and the Pink ribbon to finish. I could have added texture to the Bermuda Bay cover and also added seams to the edge of the eyelets but I was running out of time..hehe. The stamped I used was from the "Oval All" stamp set with Bermuda Bay ink.

The most important thing, my mom loved them. The card and the gift cover. I hope you liked it too!
